Feeling Loopy

I had a lovely day yesterday. Thankyou to the three gorgeous friends involved in making it such a special day.

L and I browsed through baby departments and coffee-d and lunched; G and I had coffee and a catch-up, and M left hilariously excited messages and texts until she finally got hold of me.....then she was not pleased with me as I refused to shout and scream down the phone to match her excitement (in my defence I was sitting in the middle of a very quiet restauarant at the time!!!)

During the day yesterday I felt strangely calm and in control, and OK.

Today however.... Fruit Loop City.
Couldn't get to sleep last night despite being exhausted!! I laid there most of the night staring at the ceiling (and at the screen of my Iphone)...wondering who our child is - is she a girl or is he a boy? How old will he/she be? Is he/she awake right now somewhere in China, lying in a cot staring at the ceiling...where in China...what are we going to name him/her....do I need to wash my hair in the morning in case we get "the call" tomorrow...should I get up now and wash my hair just so I'm ready....oooh, look - it's 3am.....

You get the picture....it's not pretty.

My nerves are officially fried. My poor husband.

Possibility of getting "the call" today - 1%...but I'm preparing for it anyway!!!

Three Year Anniversary

Today marks the 3 year anniversary of our dossier being "logged in" to the Chinese system.

When we first started this process it was taking 6 months from being logged in until you received news of your child....by the time we sent our dossier that was up to 8-10 months...and now we have hit 3 years.

Happy 3rd anniversary to my darling batch buddies!! We have all been waiting so, so long (P and I are not the only ones in our batch who have been waiting 7 years or more for our children!!).

BRING ON THE BABIES!!!!

Soon....very soon.....

Rumour has it that referrals have started to arrive...

I am numb..having trouble getting a full lung of air, and my head is spinning. literally.

Our baby's details are on their way to us. They may have even already arrived on Australian soil. A little piece of him/her may be in the same city we are, only 1 hour away.

How on earth are we going to make it through the next 5-10days before we see his/her precious face?

WHEN????

When will we find out who Bug is?

SOON!!!

WE expect that referrals will start to be given to parents in the USA this week sometime - Australians generally get their phone calls telling them who their children are about a week to 10 days after phone calls are made in the States and Europe....

We will get a phone call first - that will tell us Bug's Chinese name, his/her age, the province he/she is living in, and whether he/she is in foster care (fingers crossed) or orphanage care.

Soon after this (depending on the availability of our Adoption Contract Worker) we will meet with our contact worker and go through our child's medical report and other paperwork....only AFTER we go through all of this are we given his/her photo.

Then, we gaze....for days!!

We will probably get 2 or 3 small photos, one of which will be a passport sized photo. We'll do lots of copies 'cause I think we'll wear them our pretty quickly!

The First Last.....

Today was the first of the lasts that I am actually consciously aware of - I am sure there have been many "lasts" recently (as in "This is the last bath I will have uninterrupted - ever!), but this was the first one I was really aware of.

My darling friend Tash came to visit from Perth and as we said goodbye yesterday she said "You know, this is the last time I will see you without having Bug in your life". There was a pause, then we BOTH lost the plot...although I think Tash was trying to pretend she had something in her eye.

The first last.....wow. I wonder what other "lasts" there will be over the next few weeks?
